Kind of activity:
Reviewing
Short description
A review will be carried out in collaboration with IFREMER to investigate how much Copernicus do they use in that framework. In the meantime, a portfolio of water quality monitoring services from private providers will be created (using our cluster as well as our close collaboration with EARSC). Thereafter needs and challenges will be defined and presented to the private providers. Providers will be asked to present potential solutions. A workshop will then be organized to showcase these solutions and engage the dialogue with IFREMER.
PMBA will act as an interface for the different actors and will identify the companies able to provide services relevant for the MSFD and the institutions in charge of the latter. This action represents a French use case.
Main outputs:
Expected outputs are real integrated services or applications directly fulfilling the MSFD goals. This could be a standalone service/application or integrated into a more complete set of services.
What motivated you to participate as an external/associated partner to the CoRdiNet?
What motivitated us to be part of Cordinet is the possibility to network and to benefit from the experience of other structures as well as going as close as possible to companies and research centers in order to qualify Copernicus’ potential for MSFD
How does your proposed action/project complement the purpose of CoRdiNet? What is your contribution to the Copernicus ecosystem?
The proposed activity will fulfill several Cordinet objectives. Indeed, it will trigger and support the dialogue between local and regional authorities using partly or fully Copernicus for water monitoring purposes with Copernicus based service providers expert in water quality. It will help to bring closer the end-users (authorities delivering water status report) and businesses able to deliver Copernicus based services. In that sense a dialogue will be engaged for defining new relevant services as well as refining and optimizing the existing ones between the two parties.
What type of new contacts did you make and what have you learnt out of your engagement with CoRdiNeT?
The activity has not started yet but will strengthen links with EARSC for instance.
